Michael Rakowitz – ParaSITE

Michael Rakowitz , ParaSITE , New York

Architect Michael Rakowitz designed a low cost inflatable shelter consisting of plastic sheeting to help with the ever growing issue of homelessness. Located in New York the structures use air from exhaust vents to inflate and circulate the structure with warm air for sleeping people to confortably rest.

This Parasitical structure is one of the most unique projects i have found. It’s compact, simple and cost effective. Simple plastic sheeting can be transformed in to warm places for people to sleep in. It borrows air that is wasted for the benefit of others. This is something i can apply to my design and use a part of camous that isnt used and can be borrowed.
